Interactive Manual on CD

By publishing the Plan Administrator Operating Guidelines on a CD, costs to print and mail were reduced from $26 each for the previous notebook binder format, to $5 each to produce and mail the CD. The document was designed in Word and processed through Acrobat to be interactive with links between the content, table of contents and index. Not only were the cost savings for first 2 years over $20,000, but associates and clients loved the new, more efficient CD version.

I designed the Manual for the CD as a stylish Word template, then another associate took over updating the text and creating the links. We took the completed document into Acrobat and translated it into an interactive file, where links connected from both the Table of Contents and Index to the contents and back. This file and a self-installing executable were burned onto a CD which was duplicated and mailed with an cover letter to Plan Administrators announcing and explaining the new format.
